Welcome to CHOWDER'S personal page in loving memory of my dad, Jim Howder.
“I am in that temper that if I were under water I would scarcely kick to come to the top.” John Keats
The above quote is one I found that best describes for me what it is like to suffer with depression. Depression is an illness that not only affects the person suffering, but the friends & family that love this person. Depression isn't an act for attention; it is real, and it hurts.
My personal goal is to help erase the stigma of suicide and the fear of talking about it. I believe if we can talk more openly and freely about mental illness and depression without the fear of judgment we can save lives.
Welcome to my personal fund raising page for TEAM CHOWDER, in loving memory of my dad Jim Howder. This year's event is happening at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 23rd at DCR’s Artesani Park: 1255 Soldiers Field Road, Boston, MA 02135. We are participating in the 5K to raise funds and awareness for Samaritans, a suicide prevention organization serving Greater Boston and Metrowest.
When I lost my dad I attended a support group similar to the groups provided by Samaritans. This support group made it possible for me to live & keep putting one foot in front of the other. I can't stress enough the value of these groups to the people who have lost a loved one. So that's why I'm here asking for your help.
I would love for you to support TEAM CHOWDER by making a donation or by joining the team. This is a 5K flat course, walk or run, along the beautiful, scenic Charles River. Click the "Sponsor our team" link to make a donation and help us reach our fundraising goal, or click "Join Our Team" to register for the event. Registration is only $35. We hope that you are able to join us at this amazing event! This event is the main fund raising event for this amazing organization.
Thank you so much! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
