The Start of the Race
At about 9:30 am, we will ask participants to begin getting in place for the start of the race. An announcement will be made to start moving toward the starting line and getting lined up, and volunteers will help direct you to the correct place.
We will line up behind the starting line, with the river on the left and parking lot to the right.
Runners, please be sure not to cross the starting mat while lining up. We ask that the fastest runners (5 and 6 minute mile pace) line up at the front, and other runners fill in behind according to how fast you think you will run. If you have a stroller, for safety, please line up behind the slowest runners.
Walkers should generally line up behind all of the runners. However, walkers do not need to cross the starting mat. It is fine to spread out as you walk through the starting area or start from the infield as long as you wait for all of the runners to pass before beginning the walk.
We will have some brief remarks from our Executive Director, Steve Mongeau, and Kennedy from Mix 104.1’s Karson & Kennedy morning show. Then our course director, Joe Shapiro, will discuss some of the course specifics before counting down to the start of the race. An air horn will sound to start the race.
